Rafting in Berchtesgaden

Rafting tours in Berchtesgaden

Rafting in Berchtesgaden takes place on the Berchtesgadener Ache which is a varied and whooshing mountain river. The river has rather quiet stretches but also white water passages with strong currents and rapids. The tours take between 2.5h and 7h to complete and are of either easy or moderate difficulty which is simply perfect for beginners and families. Children from the age of 6 years can participate.

Berchtesgaden is a small town in the southeast of Germany, at the border to the Austrian Land of Salzburg. This region is marked by the beautiful mountainous landscape of the Berchtesgadener Land. There, you’ll find the amazing mountain lake Königssee at the foot of the Watzmann mountain (2713m) which lies in the Berchtesgaden National Park. The national park mostly consists of cliffy and majestic mountains and is entirely on German territory.

Berchtesgaden also has a lot of other things to offer. You can enjoy a walk through the charming historic centre where you’ll find lots of local cafés, bars and restaurants. Also, a world-famous salt mine is very close to the town. Berchtesgaden is also quite close to Salzburg city where, of course, there is a lot of sightseeing to do: Mozart’s birthplace, Hohensalzburg cast, and many more! You also might want to enjoy the Salzburgian nightlife.

You can easily reach Berchtesgaden by car. It is at 0.5h from Salzburg and 2h from Munich and Passau. You can of course also go there by public transport, however, we’d recommend public transport only if you’re already in the area. The meeting point would then be a 15min walk from the train station.

The process for rafting in Berchtesgaden is as follows: You’ll first meet at the provider’s base in the city centre of Berchtesgaden. After that, your guide will take you to the tour’s entry point where he or she will give you a short introduction and safety instructions. Once all this is done, you’ll be ready for your unforgettable rafting tour on the Berchtesgadener Ache. After the tour, you’ll be taken back to the base. All transfers are included in the offer.
