"Yanne did a brilliant job, tailoring his teaching to each of us. My friend picked up skiing easily and Yanne worked with him to perfect the basics and teaching him new techniques until he was comfortably doing blue runs by himself after a couple of days. I’m someone who is unfit, spends most of their time at a keyboard, is not a natural sportsmen and very much not a thrill seeker, so was pretty nervous about learning to ski. Yanne was calm and reassuring and spent time with me ensuring I got the basics right. He gave constant feedback and encouragement and never made me feel rubbish for struggling, even when my legs stopped obeying me and we had to snow plough down the rest of the run. Over the three sessions he slowly built up my skill and confidence, gradually introducing new techniques but letting me go at my own pace. At the end of the 3 days we took the transarc half way up the mountain and did a long ski down which was glorious. All the techniques I’d been learning were used and I realised just how much I’d learnt as I was able to settle into the ski, enjoy a bit of speed and not constantly panic that I was about to plummet off the side of the mountain or ski face first into a tree. I came away proud of what I’d achieved and looking forward to next years “Dads ski trip” and a large part of that was due to Yanne’s teaching!"
