Popular Ski Schools for Engelberg

"Rolf is an excellent instructor. My two daughters - ages 12 and 8 - and my wife had never been skiing before. The first day was tough. My wife did well but my daughters were struggling. My youngest (who I must confess prefers to watch YouTube to physical activity) would have greatly preferred to be watching as opposed to participating and was tired and unfocused. Rolf was very patient and spent considerable one-on-one time with her. My oldest was catching on to the basics but was very nervous. Again, Rolf spent considerable time with her to get her over her fear. On the way home after the first day, my youngest was asleep within two minutes. The second day was much better for my daughters and they were skiing by unassisted by the end of the day under the watchful eye of Rolf. My youngest even proclaimed skiing to be more fun than sledding by the end of the second day. The third day saw gradual improvement from the day before with new skills being added and all of us moving ever higher up on the beginner’s slope. Rolf was very patient and kind throughout. My wife really appreciated his teaching style and my daughters liked how he stayed with them when they were learning new skills. I have to say that I was very satisfied with the whole experience. Thanks Rolf!"

Private snowboarding in Engelberg

"My husband and I had no experience in skiing, blading or skating. We were apprehensive about our 1st ski adventure and wanted to be in safe hands. Read from the reviews that Rolf focuses on safety and is very patient. Indeed, we were not dissapointed. He showed and guided us to be comfortable in ski gear and let gravity do the job. Thanks Rolf!"

Learn to ski in Engelberg

Engelberg is located in a high valley, between the mountains Titlis (3239m) and Hahnen (2600m), and is part of the ski resort Engelberg-Titlis. It lies at the heart of Switzerland, only about 2h away from Bern and 1h from Zurich, and thus is the perfect location for all snowsport lovers. This ski resort is one of the biggest ski resorts in Central-Switzerland and is widely known for being a venue of the ski jumping world cup.

The area’s mountains offer diverse slopes that cover all difficulty levels. On the Titlis, freeriders, snowboarders and skiing professionals will find perfect conditions. Thanks to the mountain’s glacier, the slopes on the Titlis are snow-safe at all times. You’ll also find the ski resort’s longest slope on the Titlis. Additionally, you can discover the ski resort Brunni, on the Schonegg (2040m). Most of the slopes on the Schonegg are blue and thus perfect for kids and families. The Jochstock (2564m) is always a good choice for a nice skiing afternoon.

Alongside the classic lessons for skiing and snowboarding, the ski schools in Engelberg also offer off-piste activities, cross-country skiing, sledging and snowshoeing. There are also several kids’ areas in Engelberg. The Yeti-Park, just behind the restaurant Ristis, and the Globis Winterland, right next to the valley station of the Klostermatte lift, are places where the children can practice and have fun at the same time!

Engelberg’s highlight is definitely the Rotair Bahn, a cable car with rotating gondolas that leads up to the glacier’s peak. Once you’ll have checked out all the nice spots and seen all the beautiful views, you’ll have the possibility to experience the après-ski culture in the Brunnihütte après-ski chalet - at an altitude of 1860m!

How do we find group lessons or private instructors?

Private teachers are marked with the inscription "Private". You can search for private teachers by selecting the "Private" filter under the "Category" menu item.

How do we find offers in our language?

Under the menu item "Language" you can select a desired language. Afterwards only offers will be shown where this language is available.

When should we book?

During the holiday weeks, ski and snowboard courses are usually fully booked. In order to make sure that there is still a place available in the desired ski or snowboard course, the motto is: the sooner the better.

How do we find our appropriate experience level?

Next to the menu item "Experience level" you will find a description of the individual experience levels. If you're still not sure, you don't need to worry. Simply choose the experience level that best suits your abilities. Before the first lesson of a group course, ski schools will assess your abilities so that you can be placed in the right group. In any case, private instructors will take your abilities into account on an individual basis.

How do we find offers including equipment?

All offers including equipment are marked with the inscription "Ski rental included". If you find the inscription "Ski rental optional" you can book the equipment for this offer. You will find offers including equipment faster if you select the filter "Ski rental including" under the menu item "Popular options". You will find a detailed list of the included rental items in the respective offer description.

This depends on the ski school. Some ski schools have a maximum number of participants per group. You can find this information in the descriptions of the offers.

At what age can children ski or snowboard?

There is no fixed age limit here. Supported by specially trained children's ski instructors, children can already learn to ski playfully at kindergarten age. Depending on the children's level of motoric and social development, the ideal starting age is between 4 and 5 years. Occasionally there are children who can already learn to ski at the age of 3 1/2 years.

How many days should the lessons last for our children?

During the holiday weeks, children's ski courses for beginners usually start on Sunday or Monday. The program is designed in such a way that the best learning results are achieved when your children take part in the ski course throughout the week. So they don't miss the final event (race, etc.) and experience a great week with their group. For advanced children the learning success usually kicks in on the third day.

Is it better to put our child in a group lesson or a private tuition?

The group lessons are generally recommended for beginners. Learning together with peers is more fun. The children are not constantly in the focus and have the possibility to catch their breath between the individual exercises, while the other children are on it. In order not to underchallenge highly talented children, a private ski instructor is recommended.

Can we join our child with a private instructor?

Yes, that's possible. Some providers even offer special family offers. Otherwise, you can simply book a private instructor for children or adults and inform the ski school after booking that you would like to go together.
