Caving in the Lava Tunnel - Discovery Tour

Try a new activity and let yourself be tempted by caving in the lava tunnel! Take a trip to the centre of the earth, and learn about the history of the Piton de la Fournaise volcano. Discover how these tunnels were formed, its concretions and its fossils. Accessible to all, this caving initiation will take you through some low and narrow passages for those who want to live the experience to the fullest!

Tour programme
- Preparation:
We will meet at 8:30 am in Sainte-Rose or 1 pm depending on the time you booked, to brief you on the upcoming adventure and provide you with your high-quality equipment. After a 10-minute drive to the canyon car park, we'll suit up.
- Tour:
A 10-minute approach walk will bring us to the beginning of the lava flow which is the entrance to the tunnel. During your expedition, you will have some low passages: for the most courageous, you can go through narrow tunnels, which are not mandatory.
- Return:
At the end of the expedition, you will get out of the car in 5 minutes.
