Popular Ski Schools for Lermoos-Grubigsteinbahn

45Customer recommendations
"My daughter (18yrs) is a bit more than a beginner. As she was not so confident on the red slopes, she took a 2 hours private ski lesson. Her instructor was very experienced, friendly, able to speak a little Dutch and with a lot of humour. Now she has much more fun on red."

"We had a really good private cross-ski lesson today with Peter as instructor. This was our first time in Garmisch and he offer to pick us up and started the lessons with few practical things. Peter is very professional and good teacher and he used microphone system to talk to us and give advise during the time we spent with him. Brilliant tool to use in teaching. He was also really helpful to assist us to find ski lessons for our family members when he was fully booked himself. We would definitely recommend Peter if you are looking for excellent ski instructor. Linda and Erla"

Ski Schools in Lermoos

Learn to ski in Lermoos

Lermoos is a small Austrian village in the heart of the huge and family-friendly ski area Tiroler Zugspitz Arena. This area has 7 ski resorts in total, among them the ski resorts of Bichlbach, Ehrwald, Biberwier and Heiterwang .

You’ll find even more slopes on the Zugspitze (2962m), the mountain that dominates the landscape with its incredible height. It is, in fact, Germany’s highest mountain! Even though Lermoos is on Austrian territory, it is situated right at the border to Germany, therefore offering you the unique opportunity to ski in Austria and Germany in just one skiing holiday!

Lermoos not only has a direct access to the Grubigstein mountain but is also the ideal place to learn how to ski and to improve one’s skills. However, experienced skiers will also find nice slopes on the Grubigstein. The Kanonenabfahrt, for example, is a 5km-long piste presenting a real challenge for skiers. It starts at the top of the mountain and finishes 1000m further down!

At only 1.5h from Munich and approximately 1h from Innsbruck, the ski schools in Lermoos offer you a unique experience in the heart of the Wettersteingebirge mountain range - a real alpine paradise!

Lermoos is the place to be for beginners. The slopes on the Grubigstein are all of easy and moderate difficulty. What is great about this mountain is that it is covered in pistes of various difficulty levels. While the upper part is moderate to difficult, you’ll find easy and wide pistes at the bottom. The meeting place for beginners lessons is close to the valley station of the Family Jet cable car.

Kids are of course also welcome at the ski schools in Lermoos. The only condition is to be 3 years old or older and to bring as much motivation as possible! Depending on your child’s preferences, you can book a whole or half-day course.

The little skiers will be welcomed by a very special friend to the children’s ski area: BOBO the penguin! The famous skiing penguin will make all kids feel at ease in his BOBO Kinderland world where a magic carpet, a ski carousel and colourful figures await the children.

At BOBO’s school, BOBOs Kinderschule, several different lessons are offered. You can book a Bambini lesson if your child is between 3 and 4 years old. During this course, the kids will be divided into small groups and will acquire their first skiing skills through playful learning. Participants between 4 and 17 years old, can choose from a range of other high-quality lessons. With experienced guides, the children will make their first experiences on the slopes and in a snowpark.

The ski area is not only very family friendly and therefore allows beginners to easily learn the basics of skiing, but also offers lessons in three different languages (English, German, Dutch) that start almost every day. For children, an optional lunch care is included in the offer.

A lot of things make Lermoos unique. Some slopes are illuminated during the night and therefore, make it possible for you to ski and sledge at night! You’ll find the longest sledging track of the whole Tiroler Zugspitz Arena area on the Grubigstein!

If you have a vehicle and would like to go visit the sites surrounding Lermoos, you might want to stop at Neuschwanstein Castle which is a 40min drive away. While the name might not ring a bell, it is one of the most famous castles in the world as it inspired the worldwide-known Disney castle.

Another highlight of this region can be found on the Tuftelalpe. At a height of 1486m, you’ll enjoy the breathtaking view on the viewpoint Aussichtsplattform Tuftl Alm. From there, you’ll be able to admire the incredibly beautiful scenery of the Wetterstein mountains, the Mieminger mountains as well as the Lechtaler and Ammergau - a stunning postcard picture come to life! And don’t worry, even though it will take you around 1.5h to get to the viewing point, the way is quite easy and definitely doable for children as well as for elderly people.

When should we book?

During the holiday weeks, ski and snowboard courses are usually fully booked. In order to make sure that there is still a place available in the desired ski or snowboard course, the motto is: the sooner the better.

How do we find our appropriate experience level?

Next to the menu item "Experience level" you will find a description of the individual experience levels. If you're still not sure, you don't need to worry. At what age can children ski or snowboard?

There is no fixed age limit here. Supported by specially trained children's ski instructors, children can already learn to ski playfully at kindergarten age. Occasionally there are children who can already learn to ski at the age of 3 1/2 years.

How many days should the lessons last for our children?

During the holiday weeks, children's ski courses for beginners usually start on Sunday or Monday. The program is designed in such a way that the best learning results are achieved when your children take part in the ski course throughout the week. So they don't miss the final event (race, etc.) and experience a great week with their group. For advanced children the learning success usually kicks in on the third day.

Is it better to put our child in a group lesson or a private tuition?

The group lessons are generally recommended for beginners. Learning together with peers is more fun. The children are not constantly in the focus and have the possibility to catch their breath between the individual exercises, while the other children are on it. In order not to underchallenge highly talented children, a private ski instructor is recommended.

Can we join our child with a private instructor?

Yes, that's possible. Some providers even offer special family offers. Otherwise, you can simply book a private instructor for children or adults and inform the ski school after booking that you would like to go together.
