Ski Lessons for Kids (4-11 years) - Beginners

14Customer recommendations
"It allowed us the flexibility to go to a resort of our choice while enjoying the advantages of one to one tuition. Rupert was extremely helpful, spoke perfect English and my kids were so enthusiastic after each lesson it made the cost of the lessons worth the money. Would definitely make a point of going to this resort and booking Rupert again. Could not recommend him highly enough. Would like to add that more advertising in the UK about this service should be encouraged as it's such a brilliant service. I would"

"We had a great day ice climbing with Gernot! The activities were well planned for our skill level and we had a lot of fun. I would suggest to make sure you have the correct shoes for the climbing. We ended up in our ski boots because our hiking shoes turned out to be not stiff enough."

Learn to ski in Bad Hofgastein

Bad Hofgastein is a small but lively ski resort in the southern part of the district of St. Johann im Pongau, in the Austrian state of Salzburg. Together with the nearby towns Bad Gastein and Dorfgastein, it constitutes the ski alliance Gasteinertal which is again part of the gigantic ski alliance Ski Amadé. By car, the journey to the ski resort around Bad Hofgastein takes about 1h when departing from Salzburg, while it takes approximately 2.5h from Innsbruck.

Bad Hofgastein is the historic centre of the Gastein Valley and represents the ideal starting point for the exploration of the largest connected skiing area of the Gastein Valley: the skiing area Schlossalm - Angertal - Stubnerkogel. While the slopes of the Hohen Scharte (2300m) are suited to experienced skiers, beginners and families can spend a wonderful skiing day under perfect conditions on the Schlossalm (2050m). A special highlight at the Schlossalm is the 10km-long downhill run to Bad Hofgastein with a 1500m difference in altitude.

Likewise, at the foot of the Schlossalm lies the Angertal Valley. Here, the ski schools in Bad Hofgastein have created a paradise for beginners, for both young and old. The so-called Skizentrum Angertal is situated between the practice lift Judau, the valley station of the gondola lift Kaserebenbahn and the gondola lift Angertalbahn. The large practice areas offer perfect conditions for the acquisition and consolidation of basic skiing techniques. That is also why the Skizentrum Angertal usually serves as meeting point for beginners lessons.

Ski schools in Bad Hofgastein offer lessons for children from the age of 3 upwards. The youngest beginners take their first steps on skis in the Miniclub, where making snowmen and having snowball fights are also part of the ski lessons.

From 4 years of age beginners practice in the Gasti Snow Park, the home of the ski-loving mascot of the Gastein Valley. The Kinderland extends over an area of more than 10 000m². Several magic carpets, a ski carousel, various obstacles and figures are used by the children to practice basic skiing techniques. Even mogul and slalom slopes are provided. Moreover, ski schools in Bad Hofgastein particularly emphasise the communication of rules for correct and safe behaviour on the slopes.

That's special about ski lessons in Bad Hofgastein

Bad Hofgastein is the perfect location for everyone who desires to combine skiing fun and wellness pleasure during their skiing holidays. Beginners and families especially enjoy themselves on the slopes of the Schlossalm where most of the blue and red downhill runs are broad and, under ideal weather conditions, sunny nearly all day long.

Who wants to learn skiing from scratch will strike it rich on the practice areas of the Angertal Valley. Ski schools in Bad Hofgastein frequently offer courses which include lunch break supervision. While the children spend a great time in the ski course, the parents have the possibility to explore the 2251m high Stubnerkogel, starting directly from the Angertal Valley. On the peak of the Stubnerkogel awaits a special highlight: the amazing view on Austria’s highest mountain – the Grossglockner (3798m).

Occasionally there are children who can already learn to ski at the age of 3 1/2 years.

How many days should the lessons last for our children?

During the holiday weeks, children's ski courses for beginners usually start on Sunday or Monday. The program is designed in such a way that the best learning results are achieved when your children take part in the ski course throughout the week. So they don't miss the final event (race, etc.) and experience a great week with their group. For advanced children the learning success usually kicks in on the third day.

Is it better to put our child in a group lesson or a private tuition?

The group lessons are generally recommended for beginners. Learning together with peers is more fun. The children are not constantly in the focus and have the possibility to catch their breath between the individual exercises, while the other children are on it. In order not to underchallenge highly talented children, a private ski instructor is recommended.

Can we join our child with a private instructor?

Yes, that's possible. Some providers even offer special family offers. Otherwise, you can simply book a private instructor for children or adults and inform the ski school after booking that you would like to go together.
