The ski resort of Samoëns is located in the Prealps, very close to Switzerland and within 1hr drive from Geneva airport. Samoëns is divided into three areas; Samoëns Village (700m), Samoëns Vercland (800m) and Samoëns Les Saix (1600m). Samoëns plus the neighbouring resorts of Flaine, Morillon, Sixt-Fer-À-Cheval and Les Carroz form Le Grand Massif, which is the 4th largest connected ski domain within France and offers 265km of slopes for all abilities.
In Samoëns, the pistes range from altitudes of 1600m at Samoëns Les Saix to 2118m on the north slope of the Tête des Saix. Two gondolas - the grand Massif Express from Samoëns Village and the Saix from Samoëns Vercland provide direct and convenient access to Samoëns Les Saix, which is the main beginners’ area.
Higher up, the slopes around the Tete des Saix and towards Flaine are ideal for all levels, with blue, red and even black runs.

The resort has the advantage of an excellent beginners area at Samoëns Les Saix, which has 6 green slopes, 3 blue runs and 7 beginner ski lifts. The ski schools usually meet for beginner lessons directly at Samoëns Les Saix.
Beginner ski lessons in Samoëns Les Saix (Samoëns 1600) take place throughout the season in group or private lessons. The ski schools in Samoëns firstly teach the ski novices how to glide, snowplough and brake. Once the basics have been well-established, the skiers begin to work on their snowplough turns.
Ski novices with previous experience are taken by the ski schools in Samoëns directly to blue slopes, where the instructors work on the skiers' technique and posture, before the lesson focus progresses to parallel skiing.
Kids’ ski lessons in Samoëns
The ski schools in Samoëns welcome children from 4yrs. Lessons last 2,5hrs per day and lessons for children aged 4 - 8yrs are held in small groups with two instructors, for optimal assistance.
Children from 4-13yrs are divided into groups according to their ability, with a maximum of 10 participants. The ski schools in Samoëns hold these group lessons directly on slopes that fit their ability and the lessons focus on optimising technique and posture whilst introducing more challenging skiing styles.

Samoëns ski pass
There are two types of ski pass in Samoëns: The 4 Villages (or Vill4ges) pass, which gives access to the 145km of slopes at Samoëns, Les Carroz, Morillon & Sixt. The Grand Massif ski pass provides access to all of the slopes within the Grand Massif area.
A beginner’s ski pass is also available for first-time skiers visiting the resort. Available for 4hrs or a whole day, it gives access to the Samoëns Les Saix beginners area. The ski schools in Samoëns will be happy to provide further information on various pass options.

Samoëns village has a superb architectural, cultural and natural heritage.
