Ski Instructor Private for Adults - All Levels

5Customer recommendations
"A friend and I have skied maybe 4 times in our lives, so we are beginners and we proudly hold world records in falling while sking (always on the kids slopes). We booked a 2.5 hr training session and we got this BRILLIANT trainer names Sven. His instructions were broken down so well, he explained everything in so much detail (that made so much sense) and honestly we left feeling so confident we decided to do a few runs ourselves when we were done with the training. The beginners slopes at Saas Fee are super brilliant but a little scary for a beginner, Sven really did help us get more comfortable. We did multiple exercises that we will cherish for a long time, especially the aeroplane. Sven, thank you so much for such a lovely and education experience. We will return to Saas Fee for sure and we will specifically ask for you again!"

Ski Schools in Saas Fee

Learn to ski in Saas Fee

Switzerland's highest ski resorts are located in the southern canton of Valais. Among them, Saas Fee in the Saas Valley, surrounded by an incredible number of 18 mountain peaks over a height of 4000m. The glacier ski area enjoys excellent snow conditions all year round and has an average of 300 days of sunshine per year.

Together with the towns of Saas Balen, Saas Grund and Saas Almagell, Saas Fee forms the Free Republic of Holidays Saas Fee, a ski alliance with a wide range of slopes.

Saas Fee lies at the foot of the Dom, an impressive mountain reaching a height of 4545m above sea level, and directly below the Fee glacier. The slopes on the Allalin (4027m) are the perfect entrance to the ski resort. Skiing actually takes place on the Mittelallalin, more precisely at an altitude of 3500m. On one of the longest tracks of the ski resort, skiers overcome almost 1800m of altitude on their way back to the Saas Fee valley. Advanced skiers can improve their skills on the 2570m high Plattjen, the World Cup mountain of Saas Fee, or the 2448m high Spielboden, famous for its challenging mogul slopes.

Saas Fee is a car-free skiing area, so a 2h to 3h journey from Bern or Geneva by public transport is recommended. If you prefer travelling by car, however, you can park your car in one of the multi-storey car parks at the entrance to the Saas Valley. Free ski buses operate in the ski resort and between the villages. The car-free Saas Fee is also the first ski resort in Switzerland to entirely use natural power.

Beginners and families can find various practice areas and blue slopes close to the valley and mountain stations of the Allalin. In order to ensure an excellent learning success, the ski schools in Saas Fee rely on small group sizes. The meeting point is usually at the Kalbermatten sports field near the beginners lifts Bifig 1 and 2.

The slopes on the Allalin promise a lot of fun for children as well. Snowli the ski bunny welcomes the children from the age of 4 to his Snowlipark, also known as Swiss Snow Kids Village. A magic carpet, a ski carousel and colourful figures are just waiting to be conquered by the little ones.

That’s special about ski lessons in Saas Fee

Thanks to the glacier and the high altitude, the ski resort is frequented by skiers, snowboarders and international ski teams also during summer. Learning to ski is possible almost all year round. The ski schools in Saas Fee offer their lessons in several languages, among them mostly German, English and French. Snowboarders and freestylers can enjoy 20km of slopes on the Fee glacier and a perfectly groomed freestyle park with a superpipe, several kicker lines, rails and boxes.

The best place to admire the impressive mountain landscape of the Saas Valley is undoubtedly the world's highest revolving restaurant, the "threes!xty" on the Allalin. The way to the restaurant is already an experience in itself. The highest metro in the world leads you directly up to the restaurant at 3500m above sea level.

How do we find group lessons or private instructors?

Group courses are marked with "Group". You can search specifically for group courses by selecting the "Group" filter under the "Category" menu item. How do we find offers in our language?

When should we book?

During the holiday weeks, ski and snowboard courses are usually fully booked. In order to make sure that there is still a place available in the desired ski or snowboard course, the motto is: the sooner the better.

How do we find our appropriate experience level?

Next to the menu item "Experience level" you will find a description of the individual experience levels. If you're still not sure, you don't need to worry. Simply choose the experience level that best suits your abilities. Before the first lesson of a group course, ski schools will assess your abilities so that you can be placed in the right group. In any case, private instructors will take your abilities into account on an individual basis.

At what age can children ski or snowboard?

There is no fixed age limit here. Supported by specially trained children's ski instructors, children can already learn to ski playfully at kindergarten age. Depending on the children's level of motoric and social development, the ideal starting age is between 4 and 5 years. Occasionally there are children who can already learn to ski at the age of 3 1/2 years.

How many days should the lessons last for our children?

During the holiday weeks, children's ski courses for beginners usually start on Sunday or Monday. The program is designed in such a way that the best learning results are achieved when your children take part in the ski course throughout the week. So they don't miss the final event (race, etc.) and experience a great week with their group. For advanced children the learning success usually kicks in on the third day.

Is it better to put our child in a group lesson or a private tuition?

The group lessons are generally recommended for beginners. Learning together with peers is more fun. The children are not constantly in the focus and have the possibility to catch their breath between the individual exercises, while the other children are on it. In order not to underchallenge highly talented children, a private ski instructor is recommended.

Can we join our child with a private instructor?

Yes, that's possible. Some providers even offer special family offers. Otherwise, you can simply book a private instructor for children or adults and inform the ski school after booking that you would like to go together.
