The ski resort in Braunlage is in the centre of the Harz National Park, hence its nickname “Herz im Harz” (“the heart of the Harz”), and is one of the oldest winter sports resorts in Germany. The slopes are all around the Wurmberg mountain (971m), the northernmost ski area of the country. At only 3h from Hamburg and Berlin, the ski resort in Braunlage is very popular.
The lessons for beginners take place in the centre of Braunlage. There, first-time skiers will be able to practice at the ski meadow right next to the drag lift station near the town hall. The meeting place for these lessons is at the ski rental shop Ewelt, which is right around the corner of the ski school office, close to the Rathaus (town hall) drag lift and the “Rodelschlepplift”, a lift for bobsleighs.
Children aged between 4 and 14 years old are also very welcome at the ski schools in Braunlage. There are lessons for all levels. Thanks to the ski schools’ teaching method, the children will be able to show great results in a short time. One of the goals of these lessons is to teach the children how to behave correctly on the slopes and to raise their awareness of the nature surrounding them. All courses are offered in German and English.
