Details
Take a seat on our boat in Vila Franco do Campo and join a tour to discover the fascinating volcanic islet off the coast of São Miguel. After a detailed introduction about the nature reserve's geology, flora and fauna, as well as the safety restrictions on the trip, we head to the islet which is just a 10-minute boat ride away.
On the Islet of Vila Franco do Campo, we leave the boat and your guide will lead you around the rocky crater which is home to a number of different species. You will see endemic plants like the Azorean Heather and the Fire Tree as well as different species of birds, such as Buzzards, Turnstones, Little Egrets, Whimbrels and Canaries, and even colonies of Sally lightfoot crabs. Your guide will share their extensive knowledge about the species you observe and is happy to answer any of your questions.
