If you are looking for a real adventure, you're in for a treat with our 2-day dog sledding near Trondheim. On two husky tours you experience the Norwegian wilderness from a new perspective and find out what leading a team of 4 to 6 sled dogs is like. You will be astonished by the magical winter wonderland around Kopperå with all its inhabitants which include lynx, bear, elk, reindeer and even wolverines.
At night you stay in a traditional tent and if you are lucky, you will even get a glimpse of the northern lights. As you are taking care of the dogs before and after the dog sledding, you will soon feel like a real musher. Of course, our experienced guides are always at your side to lead the way and help with the handling of the sled.
Tour programme
- Meeting point:
At the arranged time we meet at our kennel in Kopperå, about 60 kilometres from Trondheim Airport Værnes. If you arrive by bus or train we can also arrange a pick-up from the station in Meråker or Kopperå. Once you get here, our experienced dog sledding guides give you a brief introduction on safety, explain how to prepare the dog team and steer the sled. Now you are invited to help getting the dogs ready for your dog sledding near Trondheim.
- Tour:
As soon as everybody is ready, we set off on our adventure that takes us through the magical winter wonderland around Meråker and Kopperå. The route for our first husky tour is between 20 and 35 kilometres long and will take us approximately 3 hours. Along the way, we will take a break to have lunch. You share the sled with a second person and can switch between sitting and mushing your team of 4 to 6 huskies. After the tour, we take the dogs back to their kennel and remove their harnesses, before we warm up by the fire with a dinner. The night will be spent in our lavvo, a "Scandinavian tipi", kept warm by reindeer skins and a winter sleeping bag. On the next day, we have breakfast before we undertake our second dog sledding near Trondheim which will take around 1 hour.
