What better place can you think of to go on your first ever dive than at Australia's Great Barrier Reef? That's right. None! With our offer Introductory Scuba Diving at the Great Barrier Reef, you can do just that. Take your very first breaths underwater in one of the world's most unique submarine biospheres and see for yourself why so many people find the scuba lifestyle to be so irresistible.
Dive AreaOur introductory scuba diving at the Great Barrier Reef takes place at two locations at
Upolu Reef which lies approximately
30km northeast of Cairns and which forms part of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. The first location is at the so-called 'Wonder Wall' on the outer edge of the reef, where you can explore a 10 to 13m deep reef wall full of colourful corals, home to all sorts of different kinds of fish and other animals. The second location is at the Upolu Reef Cay which is surrounded by shallow turquoise waters that make for an
ideal place for first-time scuba divers to practice their skills.
ProgrammeCheck-in at our desk at the Reef Fleet Terminal from 7:15 am. Boarding starts at 7:30 am for an
08:00am departure. We will then head out towards Upolu Reef on a 1h boat trip with our
luxurious 20m motor catamaran. On our way to our first mooring location, you will
gear up while your instructor briefs you on how to use your equipment and what to expect underwater. There's
no need for any prior experience. Our instructors are specialised in assisting those who are new to the sport to make you feel completely safe.
As soon as we reach the dive site, you'll hop in the water alongside your instructor and start your 30-minute adventure that is scuba diving at the Great Barrier Reef. Once you've completed your first dive, you'll be able to spend the rest of the time moored here to either go snorkeling, swimming or to relax on deck. Later, we will cruise to the second mooring location of the day at Upolu Reef Cay, during which time you will be served a
delicious smorgasbord lunch on board. Once at the cay, you will then complete your second dive of the day with more time to relax and enjoy the
paradiasical setting afterwards, before we head back to Cairns.
