Come and join us for a tandem skydive in Queenstown and imagine yourself flying over Middle Earth, the setting for the hugely popular Lord of the Rings saga. You'll not only be high on adrenaline as you plummet towards the ground at 200kph, but you'll also be right above Glenorchy on the northern edge of Lake Wakatipu, which was used to film scenes involving the fortress of Isengard. Revel in the breathtaking scenery of New Zealand's Southern Alps where Fiordland National Park and Mount Aspiring National Park come together. Seeing the majestic mountain scenery from above will have you in absolute awe and you'll almost certainly be craving for more as soon as you touch the ground.
Programme- Meeting and preparation:
Our complimentary shuttle bus service from Queenstown to Glenorchy departs from our shop at 35 Shotover Street in Queenstown. Check-in here at your booked start time and you'll then be taken on a scenic 45-minute lakeside drive directly to our dropzone in Glenorchy. We kindly ask you to give us a call 30 minutes before your start time to confirm that we're running on time and to make sure the weather conditions allow for skydiving. At our dropzone, you will meet your tandem master who will brief you and help you get fitted in your jumpsuit and harness. You will also receive a hat, a pair of goggles and some gloves so that you're fully equipped for your skydive. Once you're ready, you will board the plane and take off for your 12-minute scenic flight up to your jump altitude.
- Flight and jump:
When the plane has reached the jump altitude of 12,000ft, you'll be strapped to your tandem master, the door will open and the two of you will leap into your adventure. After 45 seconds of free falling, during which you'll be high on adrenaline, your tandem master will deploy the parachute, thereby breaking your fall, and you'll spend another 4 to 5 minutes gliding gently towards the ground. Throughout the entire experience, you'll be able to enjoy fantastic views of Dart River and the Southern Alps.
- Landing and return:
After landing safely at our dropzone, our shuttle bus will take you back to the initial pick-up location in Queenstown.
