Travel up the Gardon and the course of time during this sporty canoe descent to the Pont du Gard. You will start with paddling upstream through the wild gorges of the river to La Baume before turning around and going down to the famous Roman aqueduct. On this 15-km tour, you will enjoy the typical garrigue landscapes of the south of France while taking up a small sporting challenge which will amuse children as well as adults. Spend an unforgettable day in contact with nature in a historical site unique in France!
Tour programme- Preparation:We will meet you
at the booked time in the free car park reserved for our visitors. A member of our team will welcome you and show you where to take the shuttle bus to our base (departures all day long). Once at our base, we will give you the equipment, we will brief you on its use and the descent and then
you will choose the preferred time for the return shuttle you wish to take. Then it's time to head to the water!
- Tour:The first part takes you up the wild part of the Gardon up to La Balme on 3 kilometres. Then you make a U-turn towards the Pont du Gard. Once you have crossed it, you will have about 30 min of paddling left before reaching the arrival point of the circuit. You can stop along the river for a swim or a picnic. As canoes cannot be left unattended, visiting the bridge is not recommended. Thank you for respecting the fauna and flora of this protected area.
- Return:At the time agreed when you picked up your equipment, our return shuttle will take you back to our car park where you will find your vehicle. After your canoeing tour, don't miss the opportunity to visit the Pont du Gard, this time on foot!
