Join us for a day of hiking on Mount Etna, with a visit to the 2002 Crater and the Raspberry Cave. We will reach the craters from which the most important eruption of the last few decades occurred on the north side of the volcano. As we hike, we will pass by a deep canyon carved by the enormous magmatic mass that invaded and partially destroyed the centuries-old Ragabo pine forest, offering breathtaking views and a sense of nature's raw power.
We continue the route in the direction of the Bocche Eruttive of 1923 and head towards the Timparossa Refuge. At an altitude of 1793m, we find the Raspberry Cave, one of the longest flow tunnels on Etna. This unique cave exploration will leave you awe-inspired by the natural formations and the history they represent. After visiting the cave, we continue our walk along the high-mountain road towards the Pitarrone Barracks, a historical site that adds another layer of intrigue to our adventure.
Our final destination is the Ragabo Refuge before we return to our starting point. This tour is perfect for nature enthusiasts, adventure seekers, and anyone looking to experience the majesty of Mount Etna up close. The entire journey is sure to be filled with memorable moments, captivating landscapes, and a deep dive into the fascinating geology of one of the world's most famous volcanoes.
