What to Expect

Come and join us for a thrilling adventure that will take you hiking through the Sapphire Ice Cave and experience the world's first and only glacier zip line!

We will depart in our 4x4 vehicle from the Glacier Lagoon car park towards the glacier. Once we arrive, our guide will provide you with the necessary gear for the excursion and give you safety instructions to prepare yourself for the great adventure you are about to experience. First, we will enjoy a 30-minute hike to the edge of the glacier. As you enter the Sapphire Ice Cave, our guide will use professional photography equipment to capture the most special moments during the route. We will explore the multiple chambers formed in the Sapphire Ice Cave during the summer, while our guide provides you with interesting information about the history of Vatnajökull glacier.

You will then put your crampons on the ice and head towards the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier. Walking on the ice is definitely a unique feeling. You will follow our guide along the glacier, spotting the different glacier formations known as moulins or deep glacier holes, all this while admiring the barren landscape that surrounds it until we finally reach the moulin where you will jump on the world's first and only glacier zip line.

After your epic zip line jumps, you will return to the slope and exit the glacier. Finally, we will head back to our starting point, knowing that you have just lived a unique and unforgettable experience inside Vatnajökull National Park.

How to Get There

• Meeting place: We meet at the Glacier Lagoon car park in Vatnajokull National Park

• Meeting time: 15 minutes before departure

• For this activity, adults must provide their own kids car seat if travelling with kids under 135 cm tall

• Our tour times are approximate. Please allow an extra hour at the end of your tour as delays may occur due to varying daytime conditions
