Discover the breathtaking beauty of Skaftafell Glacier on a guided adventure through one of Iceland’s most spectacular natural landscapes. After getting geared up, a short drive through the wonderful landscape of Skaftafell takes us to our destination, Falljökull. Here, at the glacier terminus, your guide will provide an overview of the equipment, including crampons and ice axes. As we start hiking on the glacier, we quickly pass through the so-called “glacier highway,” the route most short tours take, allowing us to explore the less crowded areas.
With no fixed routes, your experienced guide will lead you through crystal clear water streams, blue water pools, and majestic ice formations. These features highlight the ever-changing nature of the glacier and offer unique photographic opportunities. High up in the ice fall, we will pause for a short lunch break, enjoying the most stunning views imaginable. After regaining energy, we will make our way back down and drive back to the Skaftafell Terminal. This tour is ideal for adventure seekers and nature enthusiasts with a moderate level of fitness, looking to experience the raw beauty of Iceland’s glaciers in a small group setting.
