You should wear warm clothing suitable for winter sports. Other accessories such as gloves, a ski mask and sunglasses are strongly recommended.
You must arrive at the first lesson with your equipment (skis and poles or snowboard, and boots). If you do not have your own equipment, make sure to allow enough time to collect it from the rental shop so as not to delay the start of the lesson. Some shops even offer the option of collecting equipment the day before your first day of hire.
Wearing a helmet is compulsory for children in some countries, but it is strongly recommended for everyone, regardless of age.
Unless otherwise stated, you must have your ski pass with you for the first lesson. You can usually buy one at the ski lift office or online. Discounted rates may be available for children or beginners, so check with your ski school to find out which pass is most suitable.
Generally, it is advisable to book lessons as early as possible. This is especially important during school holidays, such as Christmas and February, when lessons can fill up quickly.
On the first day, the instructors will form groups of teenagers with a similar age and skill level.
If you are too advanced to ski with your peers, you can be placed in a suitable adult group.
Depending on the group's level, the lessons focus on aspects like the basics of turning and gaining confidence on the slopes.
The instructors pay close attention to individual progress. If your level is better suited to a different group, they may move you.
The instructors are multilingual. For example, past reviews have mentioned that instructors speak English and French.
