It was a fun afternoon, but the actual route was not really eventful. Judging on the advertisement I thought it would be more exciting. And thought it would lead through actual canyons/rock crevices. It is quite an amount of money, to do with a family of 4, but not really what I expected to be. We wandered through a pebble stone little stream. Every now and then there was a puddle to slide into, They got a little deeper on the way, but not really that exciting. It was more like a hike in a very low water little river. The real excitement was a decent of a 12m waterfall at the end. Our youngest (9) was really afraid of that. The brochure said this was optional, but there was supposedly no other way down. We like to challenge our kids, but on our own terms as we know them the best. When asked not to let him (and his dad) drop from 3 meters above the water, the guide promised he wouldn't. But he did anyway. On hineside my son had a fun afternoon, but in that moment he was quite angry about not living up with the promises made. Something about trust....? The guide was very skilled. He also works at the Bergrettungsdienst. That is nice to know out of safety perspective. Because of weather conditions that day he contacted us the day before to start earlier. Which was a smart decision as we had an enormous downpoor at the pick up point at the finish. All in all though, despite the weather, we did the whole trip, but it lasted way shorter than advertised. While two days later, we did a rafting trip at another company and that lasted a lot longer than advertised. And the guides were as enthousiastic as ever. That enthousiasticness could use some rubbing off on this guide. He was also on his own.On a group of about 15.. As said: the guide was very skilled and loved talking about his work at the Bergrettungsdienst and we liked to learn more about it. He is Dutch and so are we, so it was easy talking. But still a bit stiff and little condescending. Which was quite ashame, because we and the boys were really interested about his stories and experiences. Tip: He was very strict and a little stiff though. When working with groups, one could act a little more loose and enthousiastic, without loosing the serious approach of safety issues. People are on holiday and are looking forward to fun. Chitchatting is unavoidable... ;-)
A cool experience for kids who love action. A relaxed introductory tour.
