Hydrospeed on the Verdon River (from 14y.)About the ActivityWhat to ExpectJoin us for a memorable hydrospeed session in the Verdon gorge! Our adventure begins at Carajuan, a breathtaking spot where the Gorges du Verdon transform into a majestic canyon. Upon arrival, you'll be greeted by our friendly team at the river's edge. After a warm welcome, we will equip you with all necessary gear for an exciting day of whitewater swimming. You will receive a comprehensive safety briefing to familiarise yourself with the signs and signals your guide will use during our descent. We start with a short training session in a calm section of the river to master the basics of hydrospeed. You will learn how to propel yourself with flippers and make turns using the foam float. It is crucial to understand how to anticipate the river's movements, so you can navigate through small currents and control the float's glide. As the descent progresses, you will experience the thrill of diving into the currents, learning to play with whirlpools, rollers, and counter-currents.Our 1-hour descent culminates as we reach the stunning Point Sublime, where the gorge narrows. Here, the Verdon speeds up and becomes steeper, offering the most thrilling part of our adventure. Under the watchful eye of your guide, you will surf the class 4 rapids, feeling the full force of the water beneath you. The tour concludes at the entrance to the Samson couloir, with its breathtaking scenery. A short 10-minute walk along the Martel trail will lead us back to the car park, where our minibus awaits.Tour factsRiver: Verdon GorgeDifficulty level: challengingDistance: 5 kilometresTotal duration: 2 hours 30 minutesTime on the river: 2 hoursFor this activity, we prefer to enjoy the best possible conditions.
