For those in the Weiden the location is phenomenal — only about an hour from home, which makes the trip extremely convenient. When we arrived, our ski rentals were already selected and waiting behind the counter. Check-in on the second floor was smooth and efficient. Aside from the €11 ski lift fee per person, there were no surprises. We were welcomed by an energetic and friendly staff who immediately made us feel comfortable. Verne, our instructor, brought us to a very gentle beginner slope and introduced us to the fundamentals — “pizza” and “fries.” We spent the first half of the day refining those essential skills. After a 1.5-hour lunch break, we met at Station 2. This was a noticeable step up in difficulty, though in my opinion it wasn’t too aggressive. Here we focused on turning and maintaining control during descents. We ended the day on the main hill. Unfortunately, my wife felt the pace was a bit too fast, so we decided not to complete a full descent. In hindsight, that was probably the right call. On the second day, we met again at Station 2 with a different instructor, Fredrick. He was extremely patient, which my wife really appreciated. We spent the first half of the day continuing to refine our turning technique and speed control — we even got to go over a small ramp! After our usual lunch break, we reconvened at 1330. At that point, I started to feel a bit restless, so after about an hour I headed over to the main hill. I ran into our previous instructor, Verne, who immediately welcomed me back into his group. We took the lift to the top, and he showed us how to properly use our poles while turning and how to position our bodies for smoother descents. Before long, I was confidently flying down the main slope — much to my own surprise. Meanwhile, my wife shared that she had gained much more confidence at the intermediate hill. In the end, we experienced two different teaching styles, but both instructors provided an equally excellent experience. Highly recommend.
