Learn to ski in Braunlage

\nBraunlage is the northernmost ski resort in Germany and is situated in the middle of the Harz national park, hence its nickname “Herz im Harz” (“the heart of the Harz”). It is one of the oldest winter sports locations in the country and stretches around the Wurmberg mountain, which is almost 1000m in height. The ski resort is only a rough 3h drive away from Hamburg or Berlin, making it perfect for a long weekend full of skiing fun.

\nThose who are not yet ready to conquer the Wurmberg mountain can make their first few attempts on skis directly in the town centre. In fact, there is a large training meadow behind the town hall with a beginners’ drag lift. After having gained a little experience there, a ski instructor from one of the ski schools in Braunlage will take you up the Wurmberg mountain. The general meeting points for ski lessons on the Wurmberg mountain are the offices of the ski schools, next to the Hexenritt ski rental shop, or the ski rental shop Ewelt, close to the Rathaus (town hall) cable car and the “Rodelschlepplift”, a lift for bobsleighs.

\nYoung skiing enthusiasts from age 6 upwards can learn to ski with Braunlage’s motivated and empathetic ski instructors. Together with the ski instructors, kids achieve great learning success in short amounts of time. The ski lessons are offered for all levels of experience. The ski schools in Braunlage emphasise correct etiquette on the ski slopes as well as respect for nature. Hence, besides teaching the basics of skiing, the ski schools in Braunlage also make sure beginners learn how to behave properly both on and off the slopes.
