Located in the canton of Valais, around 2hrs drive from Geneva airport, Crans-Montana is one of the most famous ski resorts in Switzerland. The resort has a long season from November to April and offers 140km of pistes at altitudes from 1,510m to 2,927m. 40% of the slopes within the resort are classed blue, which means Crans-Montana is ideal for beginners.

The resort is divided into different sectors, which each provide varied skiing: At 1,719m, the Arnouva area has a snow garden and blue slopes that are ideal for young learners and their families. The Cry D’Er is the favourite of freestylers and additionally offers great views over the Rhône valley. Higher up at the Cascade der Glace, there are blue and red runs, and a snowpark for freestyling fans.

Since 2016, Crans-Montana has been the annual host to one stage of the Women's Ski World Cup, which takes place on the famous Mont-Lachaux track at 2140m. This race attracts skiing fans from all over the globe who come to watch the world's best ski racers compete for the coveted trophy.

Swiss Ski School Crans-Montana

Founded in 1926 and with a team of 200 instructors, Swiss Ski School is the oldest of the ski schools in Crans-Montana. The school offers group and private ski and snowboard lessons for all ages in English, French, German and Russian.

What makes ski lessons in Crans-Montana special

Cross country skiers will find their peace in Crans-Montana, with a total 16 km of tracks, the longest slope (6km) being located at the top of the resort on the Plaine Morte glacier at 2927m.

A “Suspended Breakfast” is not for those with a fear of heights: The experience lasts for 45mins during which breakfast and incredible views are enjoyed in a gondola suspended over the pistes between Les Violettes and the Plaine Morte glacier.
