Details

Set out on this full-day cruise to Gozo, Blue Lagoon & Comino from Bugibba to discover the most beautiful sides of the Maltese archipelago on our boat "Mermaid Cruises". On our way towards Comino island, we pass Mellieha and you get the chance to admire the spectacular coastline. Get your cameras ready to take pictures of magical places like L-Ahrax Cave, Elephant Head Rock and Santa Maria Caves. Our next stop will be at the famous Blue Lagoon, where you are invited to jump into the sea from the boat, relax on the beach or explore the uninhabited island of Comino by foot. Don't forget your swimming suits and snorkeling masks, you won't be able to resist the crystal clear, turquoise waters! If you get hungry, you are welcome to eat lunch on board, either your own or you can buy something at our snack bar. After about 1 hour at Blue Lagoon, we head towards Mgarr Harbour where you can start exploring the island of Gozo on your own. During 2 hours of free time sights like Ta’Pinu Miracle Church, Inland Sea, Fungus Rock, Victoria, and the Citadel are waiting for you. On the way back to Malta by boat we discover the beautiful caves of Comino, either Crystal lagoon or St Mary's caves (weather dependent). As our boat is quite small, our captain can maneuovre it into the caves giving you an exclusive look at the inside.
Highlights - Visit the Blue Lagoon in Comino for a 1-hour stop to swim - Visit the sister island of Gozo at your own pace - Plenty of time for swimming, snorkeling & exploring Gozo and Comino on your own - Small, family-run boat with knowledgable captain - Viewing caves
Departure & return We meet at Buġibba Jetty, 30 minutes before, where you are greeted by our captain Matthew. Look out for a red vessel named "Mermaid Cruises". Public transport and parking is available nearby. Boarding will close 10 minutes before departure, so please be punctual to avoid any delays.
Characteristics of the boat - Renovated vessel for up to 100 passengers - Snack bar - Two swimming ladders - Jumping platform - Restrooms - WiFi on board
Good to know In line with new regulations issued by the Government of Malta, all visitors wishing to access the Blue Lagoon on Comino Island must obtain a free entry pass in advance. This requirement takes effect from May, 19th 2025 and applies to all visitors. Passes can be booked through the official website: www.blcomino.com. You’ll need to choose a time slot: morning, afternoon or evening. Make sure you pick the right one based on your tour schedule. Please note that without a valid pass, disembarkation onto the island is not permitted under any circumstances. If you are unable to obtain a pass or prefer not to go ashore, you are welcome to remain on the boat during the stop at the Blue Lagoon. This is a government-mandated regulation and not a policy introduced by us. We appreciate your understanding and strongly recommend securing your free pass in advance to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience.

Booking was very easy online. My advice would be to just check which itinerary you want carefully, to make sure you don't miss out on seeing something you want to see. That said, the captain was very accommodating and was happy for my friend to pay an upgrade when she bought the wrong combination. All the crew were very friendly and welcoming, and the captain skilfully manoeuvred us close to the coast to get good views of caves, coves and other places of interest. The communication about pick up times from each location was very clear, being announced on board and written on a blackboard. Was pleasantly surprised that there was a small onboard bar, selling a decent variety of non alcoholic and alcoholic drinks. The blue lagoon was fantastic for swimming, and the roughly 1 hour 15 minutes spent there felt just right, not too long. Gozo is very pretty and the views from the trip were stunning in daylight and at sunset.

Unfortunately this wasn't as described. The boat was supposed to be 46 people, there were 100 and some people couldn't sit with each other. There was supposed to be a snack bar, there wasn't. The drinks available had to be paid for with cash. We only had card. The staff were rude and told us we should read the ticket as it had said this was the case. We checked, it didn't... We dutifully got there 30 minutes early, as requested, and had to stand, with no shade, for the whole of that time while they loaded the boat with drinks. Similarly we got back at the alloted time in Gozo and had to wait in the sun as the boat wasn't there when it should have been. The captain said he would give us all the information about what we were passing on the way back. He didn't. All in all this trip didn't live up to the expectations or the other reviews. Staff were not particularly friendly either!!
