Details
Our boat trip to the caves of Santa Maria di Leuca with lunch takes you to the "heel of Italy" to discover the most beautiful sights of this region. Navigating along the Ionian and the Adriatic Sea, you have the chance to swim and snorkel under the sun, and enjoy a traditional apulian lunch in a local restaurant.
We start our trip and head to the exact point where the two seas meet. The Grotta del Diavolo is the first cave we meet, a magical place with archaeological finds dating back to the Neolithic period. Here we will visit all the nooks and crannies of the Ionian coast, with the three large semicircular arches of the beautiful Grotta delle Tre Porte being the highlight. Our last stop on the Ionian side will be the Grotta degli Innamorati and the Grotta del Drago, where you have time to snorkel accompanied by our local guide.
After exploring the Ionian side, we will return towards Leuca and continue towards the Adriatic Sea, which is equally rich in caves. On this side you can admire the beautiful Grotta della Vora and the Grotta delle Mannute, located 20-30 metres above sea level. Our next stop is the incredible Grotta del Soffio, so-called because it creates frequent water sprays. Here you have once more the chance to dive into the water and snorkel next to the cave. Please note that swimming is only allowed around the cave and not inside. After exploring all the caves of this beautiful stretch of coastline, we return to our starting point in Santa Maria di Leuca.
