About the Activity

What to Expect

Experience a unique surfing adventure with your family or friends at the Praia de Carcavelos! Our surf lessons are designed for both beginners and intermediate surfers. At the start of your class, you will get to know your surf instructor and receive all the necessary equipment. After putting on your wetsuit, you will warm up on the beach and learn important surfing basics and safety rules. Then, it's time to hit the water! Enjoy the sea breeze and the refreshing water while practicing your new skills. The total duration of the class is about 2 hours, with around 1 hour spent in the water. The class concludes with a stretching session on the beach.

Our surf center offers you a space where you can store your personal belongings securely. After the session, fresh water showers are available for your convenience. During the course, beginners will learn the take-off technique, safety rules, how to row on a surfboard, catch their first waves, and slide standing on top of a wave. Advanced surfers will focus on catching green waves, surfing both right and left, and catching waves independently. Our instructors are dedicated to ensuring you have a fun and safe learning experience, helping you build confidence and improve your surfing skills with each session.

• Meeting time: 5 minutes before departure

• Car parks nearby: at the meeting place (paid)

Start time

• The start time depends on the tides to ensure the best conditions. Therefore, please plan to allocate some extra time on the day of your surf lesson. Please contact us one or two days before your surf lessons take place. Your surf instructor will inform you of the correct start time then (courses can start from 9 a.m.).

• Theory session on the beach

• The right warm-up

• Practice in the sea: about 1 hour

• Safety rules

• Beginners: learning the take-off technique, rowing on the surfboard, catching first waves and standing on top of a wave

• Advanced surfers: catching green waves, surfing left and right, try to catch waves by themselves

Surfing beginners at our school are typically able to:

- After 1 day: standing up on the surfboard
