What to Expect
Improve your technique or learn snowboarding from scratch in our adult group snowboard courses for those aged 17 and up in Alpendorf. At the Ski School in Alpendorf – St. Johann im Pongau, lessons are conducted by certified instructors who focus on safety, technique, and self-confidence in a multilingual setting. The intimate group size of up to six people ensures individual attention, allowing you to progress at your own pace. Beginners will be introduced to the fundamentals of snowboarding, including equipment familiarization, balance control, and basic turns, all of which are essential for building a strong foundation.
The lessons unfold on the picturesque slopes of St. Johann-Alpendorf, known for its perfect location and family atmosphere. Intermediate riders will have the opportunity to refine their skills by exploring more challenging terrain, focusing on parallel turns and technique refinement. We meet at the top station of the Gernkogelbahn – 6-seater chairlift to Kreistenalm, 15 minutes before the start of the lesson.
Please do not take the gondola; use the 6-seater chairlift instead
Ski Pass
All participants need a ski pass from the first day of the lessons. You can buy your ski pass at the ski lift ticket office or online before the first lesson.
In order to not lose time at the beginning of your lesson, please buy your ski pass in advance.

What should I wear for my lessons?
You should wear warm clothing suitable for winter sports. Other accessories such as gloves, a ski mask and sunglasses are strongly recommended.
When should I collect my equipment?
You must arrive at the first lesson with your equipment (skis and poles or snowboard, and boots). If you do not have your own equipment, make sure to allow enough time to collect it from the rental shop so as not to delay the start of the lesson. Some shops even offer the option of collecting equipment the day before your first day of hire.
Do I need to wear a helmet?
Wearing a helmet is compulsory for children in some countries, but it is strongly recommended for everyone, regardless of age.
Where can I buy a ski pass?
Unless otherwise stated, you must have your ski pass with you for the first lesson. You can usually buy one at the ski lift office or online. Discounted rates may be available for children or beginners, so check with your ski school to find out which pass is most suitable.
Do I need to book my lessons in advance?
Generally, it is advisable to book lessons as early as possible. This is especially important during school holidays, such as Christmas and February, when lessons can fill up quickly.

The groups consist of a maximum of 6 participants.

The meeting point is at the top station of the Gernkogelbahn 6-seater chairlift to Kreistenalm, 15 minutes before the lesson starts. Please note that you should take the 6-seater chairlift and not the gondola.
