"We are two ladies in our best age (55y) and with very few skills in skiing. We were looking for an instructor to handle our fear of skiing and improve our level. We were met by Michaela who is a very experienced ski instructor and who has very good people skills. We can defentley recommend both Michaela and ABC. We intend to come back next year. "Adi was very helpful and accommodating. From the beginning he offered to pick us up and drive us to the equipment rental area where he rented for us top quality equipment at very low prices. He also drove us to the lifts and then we had a top class lesson where he explained technique in simple words. He was more than willing to help with everything and he surely helped me improve my ski skills very much. I am recommending Adrian for any level and I will surely book him when I visit Arosa again!"

Learn to ski in Arosa

Since 2013, the winter sports resorts Arosa and Lenzerheide form the largest ski region in the south of Switzerland: Arosa Lenzerheide. The snow-safe Arosa lies at an altitude of 1735m above sea level in the canton of Graubünden. It is known for its wide and family-friendly slopes. The ski resort can be reached by car in less than 1h from Chur and 2h from Zurich. Once in Arosa, visitors can enjoy skiing on the Brüggerhorn (2447m), the Plattenhorn (2554m), the Hörnli (2511m) and the 4 wide and sunny slopes of the Weisshorn (2653m).

The ski resort Arosa Lenzerheide is particularly well suited for beginners and families. Close to the practice lifts Tschuggen West and Ried, special training areas for beginners are located. Once you have mastered the basic techniques of skiing in one of the training areas, you are ready to explore the numerous blue slopes of the ski area. Highly recommended are the Hintere Piste and the Leichte Maran. Most of the beginners lessons offered by the ski schools in Arosa start at the respective ski school office in town. From there, the group heads to the training areas.

The Weisshorn is not only perfect for adults who want to improve their technique, but also for all future skiers. At the foot of the Weisshorn, colourful figures, a magic carpet and various obstacles promise lots of fun for the little ones. Ski lessons are being offered for kids from an age of 4. Together with other children having a similar age and level of experience, they will practice the basic techniques of skiing in the well structured Kinderland or on one of the many blue pistes of Arosa.

Arosa is one of the most popular ski resorts in Switzerland. There is a high chance you’ll see some celebrities skiing on the sunny slopes of the ski resort. Due to the fact that the majority of the slopes is rather easy, Arosa is the perfect place to learn skiing. Ski lessons for beginners start almost every day and in most cases, lunchtime care for the kids can be booked additionally. The ski schools in Arosa offer not only ski and snowboard lessons but also ski tours, freeride tours as well as snowbike courses.

For freestylers and adventurous snowboarders, Arosa provides a snowpark, the Park'n Pipe Tschuggen, on the Weisshorn, as well as the Wood Ranch, a CO2 neutral freestyle park made of fir wood from Arosa. Anyone wishing to explore the neighbouring ski area of Lenzerheide can reach the resort comfortably from Arosa via the “Urdenbahn”, a double aerial tramway leading directly to Urdenfürggli (2546m).

Next to the menu item "Experience level" you will find a description of the individual experience levels. If you're still not sure, you don't need to worry. At what age can children ski or snowboard?

There is no fixed age limit here. Supported by specially trained children's ski instructors, children can already learn to ski playfully at kindergarten age. Occasionally there are children who can already learn to ski at the age of 3 1/2 years.

How many days should the lessons last for our children?

During the holiday weeks, children's ski courses for beginners usually start on Sunday or Monday. The program is designed in such a way that the best learning results are achieved when your children take part in the ski course throughout the week. So they don't miss the final event (race, etc.) and experience a great week with their group. For advanced children the learning success usually kicks in on the third day.

Is it better to put our child in a group lesson or a private tuition?

The group lessons are generally recommended for beginners. Learning together with peers is more fun. The children are not constantly in the focus and have the possibility to catch their breath between the individual exercises, while the other children are on it. In order not to underchallenge highly talented children, a private ski instructor is recommended.

Can we join our child with a private instructor?

Yes, that's possible. Some providers even offer special family offers. Otherwise, you can simply book a private instructor for children or adults and inform the ski school after booking that you would like to go together.
