Details
Explore the heart of the Grand Canyon du Verdon with this river trekking tour in Couloir Samson, inaccessible by boat. During 1.5 h, the turquoise waters of the river will be your playground: you will progress by swimming, floating or jumping, for maximum fun. The course is very easy and suitable for everyone, from 10 years old. Surrounded by the high cliffs of the gorges, come and spend with family or friends an unforgettable half-day in one of the most beautiful natural sites of France.
Tour programme- Preparation:
We meet on the small car park in front of the Carajuan campsite in Castellane 15 minutes before the reserved time. You will recognize us by our blue trailer. You will get to know your instructor, who will give you your equipment and explain the route and safety instructions. Then you'll get on our shuttle bus to the beginning of the canyon. Once there, there is not much to walk to reach the water. The descent is done in groups of 9 participants and, for larger groups, we have two guides available (in this case, the two groups will follow each other a few minutes apart).
- Tour:
It's time for 1.5 h spent in the gorges: the beginning of the route is very impressive with the cliffs rising vertically. You progress in the river by a succession of rapids, swimming and jumps (none are obligatory). Unlike canyoning, there will be no abseiling passage.
- Return:
A 30-min walk will be necessary to get out of the canyon once you reach its end. Then, we will take you back to the campsite car park by shuttle bus.

Very well looked after, our first river tracking/canyoning experience so we have no comparison, but the kids had fun and the guides were very nice and had everything under control.

With the family (3 children over 16) we booked a planned stop at the Verdon River for river trekking on our trip. The organizer called me 1 week before that the river would carry too much water that day and we should postpone a day or switch to rafting. So we went rafting. It was awesome - swimming in the current and jumping off the rock.
Our guide created a great atmosphere. However, I would recommend the long neoprene. The water is freezing cold.
