Goal of the course
The aim of this course is to learn the basic rules of scuba diving, both theoretically and practically. During the course, you will start practising from shore, and then move forward to open water dive. After the course is completed, you will receive a certification which allows you to dive up to 12 meters worldwide.
In details, you will learn:
- How to prepare and wear the equipment
- Descent and compensation
- Hand signals
- Exercises for equipment management in water
- Trim
Meeting & Preparation
We meet directly at our base, where you will get to know your instructor and receive your equipment, as well as the learning material. Each day of the course, the practical part of diving will take place in the morning for around 2 hours, while the theory lessons will last approximately 1 hour and will be in the evening (around 6pm).

- Day 1: Introduction + 1 Confined Water Dive + 1 Theory Lesson
- Day 2: 2 Confined Water Dive + 1 Theory Lesson
- Day 3: 1 Open Water Dives + 1 Theory Lesson + Final Exam with Certification

In June 2024 we took the beginners' scuba course with Lustrica Diving Centre in Ustrica, north of Sicily, as part of a birthday / holiday. We were both very happy with the people and the programme, not too much too soon and after 3 days we had overcome any initial apprehension and were swimming 10m down amidst the rocks and fishes. And Ustrica was also a star, very clear water and what a lovely, friendly island the place is, and quite an adventure to get there with a 90 minute ferry from Palermo. The very good 1 on 1 training throughout (from Luiz and Sara) was most appreciated, I felt this contributed largely to our very good experience. We received the SSI certification when we competed the course. Very happy. All English speakers too.

What marine life might I see on this activity?

What are the requirements to participate in the course?
The minimum age for this course is 10 years. You also need to be in good physical health, not be afraid of water, and provide a medical certificate for underwater activities.
