With our exploration dive at the Elephant's Cave in Chania, you can explore one of Crete's most famous natural treasures. If you are a certified Open Water Diver or above, you can't miss this spot! During this morning excursion, you will discover the stalagmites, stalactites and fossils of the cave. In groups of 4 people per instructor, you will dive to a depth of 7.5 to 12 meters, in order to reach the entrance of the cave.
Dive AreaThe Elephant's Cave is a must-see spot in Crete. Indeed, thanks to the formation of red and white stalactites and stalagmites as well as rock walls with surprising shapes, the cave has, over the years, become a real natural paradise. The cave also contains the fossilized remains of an elephant, including vertebrae, teeth and a tusk. We can also find fossils of deer bones, a testament to the biodiversity of the cave before the waters rose.
ProgrammeWe meet at our base in Almyrida, where you will find a private car park. On request, we can also arrange free transfers from your hotel in the Chania area. Afterwards, we will provide you with your equipment and you can change in our changing rooms. You can also leave your personal belongings in the lockers we provide. Our base is the closest dive centre to the Elephant Cave, so it will only take us 10 minutes to reach the spot. In total, we will dive twice, to give you the opportunity to discover all the secrets of the cave.
