The Asinara National Park, with its wild landscapes, turquoise waters and famous white donkeys, is a must-see during your stay in northern Sardinia. Thanks to our day trip from Stintino to Asinara with a guided tour of the island, you will have the opportunity to visit the whole island and the main points of interest with the advantage of having a local guide and being protected from the sun.
We will leave in the morning from the Marina of Stintino and after about 20 minutes of navigation we will arrive at the port of Fornelli, in the southern part of the island. Here, our official guide will be waiting for us along with our colourful electric bus, which will take us on a journey of approximately 26 kilometres around the island. You will have the opportunity to get off the bus several times to visit points of interest such as the marine animal rescue centre and the Cala Oliva prison, but also just to admire the views and photograph the sweet white donkeys.

The entire tour was conducted exclusively in Italian, even though we had booked it in English! The landscape was very barren; you mainly saw donkey droppings, a few donkeys, horses, and goats. We couldn't eat our packed lunch at the lunch stop because it was swarming with wasps. The first swimming stop was okay, but stressful with the wasps. After only 15 minutes, we reached the second stop: unfortunately, we didn't understand that there was also a swimming area there, as only Italian was spoken, so we left our swimsuits on the bus. In Cala Reale, we couldn't do anything for 1.5 hours with a toddler in the heat. The "restaurant"/bar smelled terribly of a toilet/sewer, so we couldn't escape the wasps there either. In short: we went to Asinara and can cross that off our list 😉, but for the price of €250 for three people, we expected much more.
