Details
If you are in Venice, you cannot miss the two most famous islands in the lagoon. With our boat trip to Murano and Burano, you can spend half a day exploring these unique villages on your own.
The departure is a 10-minute walk from San Marco, in Riva degli Schiavoni or 5-minute walk from the Train Station, at the Calatrava Bridge. We will start by visiting Murano, world-famous for its unique glass art. The history of glassmaking on this island dates back to 1291, when the government of Venice ordered the glassmakers to move to Murano to prevent fires in the city. Today, Murano is one of the most important glass production centres in the world, and during our one-hour tour to this island you will have the opportunity to visit a foundry and see a skilled craftsman at work.
The next stop will be Burano, and during the boat transfer, our guide will tell you the history of this island. You will have one hour to explore this fishing village on your own, which is famous for its colourful houses and for the ancient technique of lace making. We recommend that you take a stroll among the small shops and restaurants in Piazza Galuppi, enter the church of San Martino Vescovo, and visit the Lace Museum. At the end of the visit to Burano, we will return to our starting point in Venice.
