If you have always wanted to try scuba diving, this is your chance to start! With our trial scuba diving near Catania, you will have the chance to dive with our certified guide and explore the unique lavic seabed typical of this part of Sicily. This is a great way to learn the basics of scuba diving while exploring the marine wildlife and the underwater canyons created by lava flows. If you're 10 or older, join this activity to experience for the first time what it feels like to breathe underwater and experience weightlessness in complete safety.
Dive areaLocated on the
east coast of Sicily, our diving centre is familiar with multiple diving sites that are suitable for a trial dive. Our instructor will choose in the morning which diving spot we will go to, depending on the weather and currents. We will either dive in the Gulf of Catania or in the Cyclops Islands Marine Protected Area. You might encounter sponges, crabs, starfish, octopuses, and many types of fish.
ProgrammeWe meet at our office in Aci Castello
10 minutes before the scheduled time. If you arrive by car, you can use the car park in Via Marina, only a few minutes on foot from our office. You will meet our
certified scuba diving guide, who will give you all the equipment required. We start with a
brief theoretical lesson to introduce you to the equipment and the
main diving rules. Then, in a group of
10 people maximum, you will board our boat and reach the diving spot. After putting on the equipment, each participant will have a
1:1 dive with the instructor, who is also a marine biologist. You will start by floating in the water for a couple of minutes to familiarize yourself with the environment, and once you feel comfortable enough, you can begin a slow descent to a
maximum depth of 10 metres. After all the participants are done with their trial, we will offer you some fresh fruit and soft drinks to regain your strength while we return to our office.
