Rafting on the Voidomatis River in Vikos-Aoos National Park

Our journey begins at Aristi Bridge, where we equip ourselves with specialized rafting gear before embarking on our descent. We navigate through crystal-clear, chilly waters, immersing ourselves in the pristine nature illuminated by Oriental Plane Trees. The Vikos-Aoos National Park region is steeped in history, once home to a hunter's settlement during the late Ice Age, various monasteries, and a tragic blood feud that ravaged a prosperous village.

As our excursion draws to a close, we pass beneath the renowned Klidonia stone bridge, rebuilt last in 1853, and traverse an artificial dam, creating a thrilling rush of currents akin to a waterfall. Upon reaching the endpoint, the Alpine Zone base awaits just a stone's throw from the bridge. Our dedicated staff will be on hand to greet you with traditional syrup sweets, such as baklava, refreshing water and can use our convenient changing rooms with showers.

Tour programme
- Preparation:
We meet at our starting point, Aristi Bridge 15 minutes before departure. There is free parking available close by. You will receive the equipment from us and put it on in the changing rooms. Our guide will then introduce you to the technique of paddling and talk about safety instructions. Then, the excursion can begin.
- Tour:
Starting at the Aristi Bridge, cruise through crystal-clear water, surrounded by unspoilt nature and oriental plane trees. Pass under the historic Klidonia stone bridge and cross an artificial dam with an exciting current.
- Return:
At the end of the tour, we will return to the base. There are toilets, showers and changing rooms, so you can change into dry clothes and warm up after this exciting tour.

- Description: The Voidomatis River crosses some of the most beautiful areas of the country as it passes through the heart of Vikos-Aoos National Park in the land of the mountains of Zagori. It is characterized as one of the cleanest rivers in the whole Europe. On its way, one can admire the single arched continental bridges, such as Aristi's Bridge and Kleidonia's Bridge.
