Rafting on the Arachthos Potamos River starting from Politsa’s Bridge

Our 10 km route river journey commences at the historic Politsa Bridge, dating back to the 19th century, where we gear up with specialized rafting equipment. As we navigate through the Arachthos canyon, towering up to 700 meters in some areas, we will encounter the breathtaking beauty of a moss-covered cliff-cave and the magnificent 14-meter Klifkis Waterfall, inviting us to plunge into its icy waters.

Our excursion concludes as we glide beneath the majestic one-arch Plaka Bridge, standing tall at 20 meters and spanning 40 meters in width. Recently restored following a devastating flash flood, this bridge is hailed as one of the finest stone bridges in the Balkans. Upon returning to the Alpine Zone base, located just a few meters past the bridge, our welcoming staff awaits, offering traditional syrup sweets, water, and access to showers and changing facilities.

Tour programme
- Preparation:
We meet at our starting point, Politsa Bridge 15 minutes before departure. There is free parking available close by. You will receive the equipment from us and put it on in the changing rooms. Our guide will then introduce you to the technique of paddling and talk about safety instructions. Then, the excursion can begin.
- Tour:
Embark on our exhilarating 10 km route, floating along the Arachthos Canyon. Marvel at the awe-inspiring natural beauty, including tall cliffs adorned in green moss. Take a refreshing break beneath the impressive 14-meter Klifkis Waterfall. Continue the adventure, passing under the iconic one-arch Plaka Bridge.
- Return:
At the end of the tour, we will return to the base. There are toilets, showers and changing rooms, so you can change into dry clothes and warm up after this exciting tour.
