What to Expect

Discover the thrill of a unique journey between the majesty of Mount Etna and the wonderful Alcantara Gorges! This exclusive tour, available every day, will take you to the heart of eastern Sicily, where the fire of Europe's highest volcano meets the crystalline freshness of the Alcantara waters. With a duration of 8 hours, the hike promises unforgettable adventures between lunar landscapes and unspoiled nature.

The first stop is dedicated to discovering the famous Silvestri Craters, formed during the 1892 eruption and located near the Sapienza Refuge. Here, you will be faced with almost extraterrestrial scenery, where the ground is coloured black, and the sky seems incredibly closer. Continuing the hike, we will visit a spectacular lava flow cave, a fascinating journey into the underground of Etna where, equipped with helmets and torches provided by us, we will explore the geological wonders hidden beneath the surface. The experience continues with a visit to the Valle del Bove, a vast volcanic caldera that stretches beneath your feet, witnessing millennia-old eruptions and breathtaking panoramas dominating the horizon. After savouring the grandeur of the volcano, the tour will move to the fresh and lush Alcantara Valley. Here, the trek winds through the columnar basalts formed thousands of years ago, a landscape that enchants with its beauty and uniqueness. The Alcantara Gorges, with their walls up to 25 meters high, divided by the cold, crystal-clear river, offer an extraordinary contrast with the fire of Etna, showing how varied and surprising nature is in this part of the island.

Before concluding our tour, we will stop at a local farm where you will have the opportunity to taste locally produced honeys and wines, discovering the authentic flavours of the Sicilian land. Each taste will tell a story of tradition and passion, indissolubly linked to the territory. Our excursion ends with the return to the starting point, but the emotions and images collected during the day will stay with you forever. This tour is not just a simple visit but a profound experience that connects you with the history, geology, and culture of one of the most fascinating regions in Italy.
