What to Expect

Explore the natural beauty of Iceland with your loved ones on our private glacier tour in the Sapphire Ice Cave with ice climbing. An adventure you will never forget awaits you! We will depart in our 4x4 vehicle from the Glacier Lagoon car park towards the glacier. Once we arrive, our guide will provide you with the necessary gear for the excursion. After receiving safety instructions, we will embark on a 30-minute hike to the edge of the glacier.

As you enter the Sapphire Ice Cave, our guide will use professional photography equipment to capture the most special moments during the route. We will explore the multiple chambers formed in the Sapphire Ice Cave during the summer, each unique every year, while our guide provides you with interesting information about the history of Vatnajökull glacier. The vivid blue ice formations will leave you in awe as you navigate through this natural wonder.

You will then put your crampons on the ice and head towards the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier to our climbing spot. If you are new to ice climbing, your guide will start with a brief introduction to the activity, including proper climbing techniques and how to use the equipment correctly. For first-time climbers, we begin on an easier slope and gradually progress. Once you are comfortable with the techniques, the guide will set up a route, and you will take turns climbing the wall. You will spend about 2-3 hours climbing different walls around the glacier and, by the end, you will be proud of your achievement! After this thrilling climb, we will hike back and head to the meeting point. This is a great opportunity to discover the natural wonders of Iceland in the best company.
