What to Expect

Cruise through the frozen sea of Lapland on our Arctic icebreaker and immerse yourself in a winter wonderland like no other! Begin your three-hour adventure with a convenient pickup service from Haparanda and Tornio, whisking you towards Kemi where your journey begins.The Icebreaker Arktis docked in Kemi in December 2023 after being refurbished for tourism. During the cruise, you can enjoy a one-of-a-kind ice floating experience and walk on the frozen sea. The ship features a modern café and cozy lounges across two floors. Originally built in 1980.

Your first stop is the ice floating experience, where you can don a specially designed survival suit and float amidst the ice—a truly remarkable way to connect with the Arctic environment. This is followed by the opportunity for walking on ice, where you can step out onto the frozen sea, a rare chance to walk where the ocean usually reigns. Capture these moments with photos and receive a diploma to commemorate your adventure.

How to Get There

We meet at the snowcastle of Kemi, 60 minutes before departure.

After completed booking, you will receive a document with the specific pick-up times for the chosen location. Please note that the pick-up times will be a lot earlier than the starting time of the boat trip.

• Minimum size for ice floating: 140 cm

Good to Know

• Suitable for children of all ages, pregnant women and the elderly

• Not recommended for people with reduced mobility

• Not accessible to wheelchairs and strollers

• No pets allowed

• It is not allowed to bring your own drinks and snacks on board

• If bad weather forces the provider to cancel the activity, you’ll receive a full refund or have the option to reschedule

• The shuttle bus also makes a stop in the SnowCastle area of Kemi, so we also recommend booking additional paid services, such as a lunch buffet in Lumihiutale restaurant (€24 for adults, €15 for children) and entrance to the SnowCastle Winter Park.

• Please note that if you choose to take advantage of our pick up service the meeting time will be a few hours before the start of the activity, so free up the full day for the activity.
