Before we began, our guide explained how to paddle and which commands he would use. Then we launched the raft together. There, we gained our first experience with the raft, the water, and the waves. Our guide gave us lots of safety information. We tackled high waves and swam alongside the raft during calmer sections of the river. After a brief introduction, we were given a wetsuit, a life jacket, and a safety helmet. On the banks of the Isar, the guide gave us further instructions and pointed out the dangers. I found it very convenient that there were only six of us in our boat; we had plenty of space to paddle and didn't get in each other's way.
