Rafting on the Durance River in Embrun - CocktailEnjoy a full day on the water with different activities: we do a rafting tour in the morning, and in the afternoon you will have the chance to experiment other exciting types of boats, like hotdog (canoe), airboat (kayak) or hydrospeed crafts! Ready for an unforgettable adventure? Tour programme - Preparation: The Embrun base will be the start of your adventure. Come 15 min in advance and you will be ready in your wetsuit, helmet and lift vest to start your journey. - Tour: Our state-certified guide will then drive you to the starting point in St-Clément-sur-Durance and inform you on how to behave in the water. In the morning, you will experience a 17 km section towards Embrun, going over the famous Rabioux wave (class IV), which will be the highlight of the trip. Don't worry, you can't miss it! After a well-deserved lunch, you will spend the afternoon discovering the river with a craft of your choosing, such as the two-seater airboat, the single-seater hotdog or the fully immersive Hhydrospeed (see pictures). One thing is for sure, you will get your fill of water sports! - Return: At the end of the day, you will have tried most of what white water can offer and will be driven back to the base in Embrun. All the basics were as they should be, and felt safe and secure all the way. However, the trip also had a lot of shortcomings: The guide could not speak English as promised. The guide was very unengaged and seemed mostly like he was tired and wanted it to be over. There was a lack of mood and energy throughout the trip. We were not informed about the options to bring drinks - and did not get any during the 3 hours. However, the guide drank water himself continuously... We were not informed about the possibility of taking pictures, which meant we did not get a single picture of the trip. "A very fun activity with experienced and professional guide Hocine. During the trek, you have the choice to jump from 1.5m to 6m. Our daughter found it exciting, having to swim that little bit or slide a bit; it was nice that there was also the option not to jump.
Hocine prepares every new step of the route extensively, explaining what to expect, what to do (and what not to do), and during the somewhat fast currents (we chose the ‘average’ one), he took our 11-year-old son with him.
An incredibly cool experience with rapids and bizarrely beautiful nature. What is stated on the website is not an exaggeration; on the calmer sections, lie back on your back and admire the beauty of nature, the high cliffs, and the vultures in the blue sky.
By the way, you could park your car on their premises where someone from the organization is always present. We could leave our phones there and hand in the car key at the counter. No lockers available. We had one phone in a waterproof pouch during the trek, but the guides also take photos that are shared afterwards (for free). Oh yes, plenty of protection thanks to the good equipment we were given (suit/jacket/helmet).
We would do it again in a heartbeat! 💚"
