Our boat trip to Murano, Burano, and Torcello will allow you to discover these characteristic villages with the help of a multilingual tour guide. You will spend a nice day relaxing and exploring the villages.
We will leave from Punta Sabbioni and make a short stop to allow the passengers embarking from Venice to board the boat. We will navigate in the canal, passing the Island of Sant'Elena, and then arrive at Murano, our first stop of the day. This village, known throughout the world for its unique coloured glass, boasts a very interesting history, which dates back to 1291. In that year, the glassmakers of Venice were ordered to move to Murano to prevent possible fires from starting in the city, concentrating all the knowledge of master glassmakers in one place. Today, Murano is one of the most important glass production centres in the world, and during our one-hour visit to this village, you will have the chance to visit a foundry and see a skilled craftsman at work.
The next stop on our itinerary will be Burano, a fishing village that has become famous for its colourful houses and for the ancient technique of lace-making. On board the boat, our guide will explain the history of Burano, which you can then explore on your own during a 2-hour stop.
Finally, we will visit Torcello, which in the past was the most important and populated island of the Venice Lagoon. During our one-hour stop, you will have time to admire the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, the oldest building in the Venice Lagoon, and its marvellous Byzantine mosaics from the 11th and 12th centuries. Once the tour of Torcello is over, we will board the boat and return directly to Punta Sabbioni.
