Details
If you want to know what it feels like to watch the sun set gently over the horizon from the top of a volcano, you cannot miss our excursion to Mount Etna at sunset. During this exclusive experience, you will reach the summit craters of Europe's highest volcano at the most magical time of day, when the darkness will allow us to observe a potential volcanic activity.
We will depart from Taormina by private bus, and in about 1.5 hours, we will reach Rifugio Sapienza at 1900 metres. We will make several stops along the way to admire the view and get used to the altitude, and our guide will tell you stories and curiosities about Etna. Once at the lodge, we will make a brief stop and then ascend in powerful all-terrain vehicles to the summit craters, accompanied by alpine guides.
Once at altitude, you can walk freely and witness a unique sunset at a safe distance from the central crater. If we are lucky, we will also be able to see Etna's activity live, which will be enhanced by the darkness. After the sun has set, we will return to the lodge, and if you wish, you can have dinner in a typical restaurant. After this incredible experience, we will return to Taormina.
