Details
If you want to explore the coast near Palermo, don't miss our boat trip to Capo Gallo! Departing from Palermo, we will head north and immediately encounter the Grotta della Regina, a small grotto once used by Queen Caroline of Austria to bathe in total privacy.
Further on, we will find several tuna fisheries that demonstrate the presence of tuna in this area until the 1950s, when tunas changed its route, leaving no purpose to the fisheries, that fell in disuse. We will see Tonnara dei Florio, not far from the Arenella beach, and Tonnara Vergine Maria, which date back to the 15th century. Although the tunas have changed course, the area is still rich in fish, and we will set up our fishing gear if you wish. Keep your fingers crossed, as we might catch something! We will then pass in front of Monte Pellegrino and reach Mondello Beach. This beach is known for its crystal-clear waters and a bathing establishment dating back to the Belle Époque! We will stop in the gulf in front of the beach for about 1 hour, where you can swim and snorkel.
We will then head towards the Capo Gallo Natural Reserve, which is very important for the biodiversity of this area. Here we will admire this impressive promontory on which stands a Bourbon lighthouse and then dive back into the water to cool off. After enjoying a light apéritif, we will return to Palermo and have an amazing overview of its coastline.
