If you want to learn how to ski or improve your skills in the beautiful ski resort of Obertauern, these half-day ski lessons for adults from 16 years old are the right choice for you. Obertauern offers a fun, safe environment for skiers to learn and enjoy the sport. The resort boasts a range of slopes suitable for all levels, with areas specifically designed for beginners to comfortably start their skiing journey. The lesson is conducted in small groups of up to 10 participants, ensuring a sociable experience where you can learn together with other adults. The instructors make sure that the lessons are engaging and enjoyable.
The lesson begins with beginners familiarising themselves with their equipment, which is crucial for their comfort and confidence on the slopes. Once comfortable, they will learn the basics of skiing, including how to stand and move on skis. As they progress, beginners will be introduced to making their first turns on gentle slopes, an essential skill for building a strong foundation in skiing. This is followed by practising these turns in the resort's dedicated beginner areas, which are designed for easy learning.
For more advanced skiers, the focus shifts to refining technique and learning how to navigate more challenging terrain. They will work on skills such as parallel skiing and mastering steeper slopes, which are vital for improving control and performance. By the end of the lesson, participants will have gained confidence and skills to enjoy the slopes of Obertauern with ease. The combination of expert instruction and the resort's excellent facilities makes these lessons a unique opportunity to enhance your skiing abilities.
We meet at the assembly point between Kirchbühellift and Sonnenlift 1, 15 minutes before the start of the lesson.
We offer a shuttle-service to pick up first-timers from their hotel free of charge.
First-timers do not need a ski pass for the first day of the lessons. The instructor will advise you when to buy the ski pass.

I had a great experience at Ski school Kock in Obertauern. As a complete beginner at age 31 who could barely keep my balance on a pair of skis, even the easiest pistes seemed impossible to overcome. While there are plenty of ski schools in the Lungau area, most of them only offer private lessons to adults starting from a €65 per hour. Knowing that I would need many hours of instruction, this would quickly become a very expensive skiing trip. Luckily, ski school Kock had an offer of 8 hours of instruction over the course of 2 days at a reasonable price, which was exactly what I needed. The instructor, Joep, did a great job at taking me through the basics, again and again, until I finally started becoming comfortable with braking and steering. While I am not the fastest learner, he was very patient with me. Especially making turns at a steep angle was frightening for me and caused my legs and feet to cramp up. After practising many times with Joep by my side, however, I was finally able to overcome my fears and commit to the turn. In the end, those 2 days of instruction gave me the basic set of tools to navigate safely down a beginners piste, which for me was a great achievement. So I can definately recommend ski school Kock and the instructor Joep :)
My husband and I were first time skiers. Leo has us down a blue run after a few hours of lessons. He and Adam were incredibly patient, particularly as I wasn’t the most fearless on the mountain - they kept me and others encouraged and feeling safe. Highly recommend for anyone thinking of learning to ski in Obertauern.
Great adaptation to different performance levels
