You will receive a comprehensive safety briefing to familiarise yourself with the signs and signals your guide will use during our descent.We start with a short training session in a calm section of the river to master the basics of hydrospeed. You will learn how to propel yourself with flippers and make turns using the foam float. It is crucial to understand how to anticipate the river's movements, so you can navigate through small currents and control the float's glide. As the descent progresses, you will experience the thrill of diving into the currents, learning to play with whirlpools, rollers, and counter-currents.Our 2-hour descent culminates as we reach the stunning Point Sublime, where the gorge narrows. Here, the Verdon speeds up and becomes steeper, offering the most thrilling part of our adventure. Under the watchful eye of your guide, you will surf the class 4 rapids, feeling the full force of the water beneath you. The tour concludes at the entrance to the Samson couloir, with its breathtaking scenery. All the basics were as they should be, and felt safe and secure all the way. However, the trip also had a lot of shortcomings: The guide could not speak English as promised. The guide was very unengaged and seemed mostly like he was tired and wanted it to be over. There was a lack of mood and energy throughout the trip. We were not informed about the options to bring drinks - and did not get any during the 3 hours. However, the guide drank water himself continuously... We were not informed about the possibility of taking pictures, which meant we did not get a single picture of the trip. "A superb canyoning experience with Gilles! He guided the children (8 and 10 years old) with humor and skill, building their confidence. We were awestruck by the beauty of the gorges, in the crystal-clear water, learning to navigate without leaving too much of a mark on nature. We jumped (4 meters for our 8-year-old daughter) in breathtaking locations. Vultures and the tireless white-bellied swifts now hold (almost) no secrets for us. Thank you, Gilles, and Aloha Verdon!
