Explore the landscapes of the Arctic Circle on a reindeer sled near Tromsø. At our Sami reindeer camp, you have a unique opportunity to learn about those fluffy creatures and see the life from a perspective of a Sami reindeer herder.
With our package Reindeer Sledding in Tromsø & Sami Culture 25–30 min, our herd of friendly reindeer will take you for sledding on a wooden sled around the valley. In a traditional Sami hut gamme around the fire, you will also experience Sami culture and try the typical Sami food.
Tour programmeMeeting point
We will meet at the Tromsø Havn Prostneset bus terminal 20 minutes before the tour starts. There are two entrances: one by the buses and one between the terminal and the Clarion Edge hotel. Our guides will be located by the buses, where they will be ready to depart for the camp. From there, it will take approximately 25 minutes by bus to reach the Sami reindeer camp, where a local guide will be waiting for you
Tour
With max. 2 people on a wooden sled, your guide and your new fluffy friends will take you around the valley and along the coast for a sleigh ride. Afterwards, you will have a chance to feed those magnificent creatures and learn how to throw a lasso (not on a reindeer though) before entering a typical gamme for a hot drink and cookies.
Around lunchtime, you will taste a traditional Sami soup bidos prepared over fire. With a hygge atmosphere sitting in a warm candlelit gamme you will finish the day by listening to the stories of Sami culture and traditional Sami folk song joik.

It was amazing for the kids and us as parents. The Sami history was so fun and interesting. The reindeer sled ride was perfect as the sun was setting. Feeding the reindeer was incredible and as we ended the northern lights were everywhere overhead!
