Rafting on the Durance River in Embrun - CocktailEnjoy a full day on the water with different activities: we do a rafting tour in the morning, and in the afternoon you will have the chance to experiment other exciting types of boats, like hotdog (canoe), airboat (kayak) or hydrospeed crafts! Ready for an unforgettable adventure? Tour programme - Preparation: The Embrun base will be the start of your adventure. Come 15 min in advance and you will be ready in your wetsuit, helmet and lift vest to start your journey. - Tour: Our state-certified guide will then drive you to the starting point in St-Clément-sur-Durance and inform you on how to behave in the water. In the morning, you will experience a 17 km section towards Embrun, going over the famous Rabioux wave (class IV), which will be the highlight of the trip. Don't worry, you can't miss it! After a well-deserved lunch, you will spend the afternoon discovering the river with a craft of your choosing, such as the two-seater airboat, the single-seater hotdog or the fully immersive Hhydrospeed (see pictures). One thing is for sure, you will get your fill of water sports! - Return: At the end of the day, you will have tried most of what white water can offer and will be driven back to the base in Embrun. We booked very last minute, only two days in advance. That same evening we received a message asking if it could be a day earlier, because the dam would be open on our original date. For us this was no problem. Because we were just outside the high season, our group was a bit smaller, but that made the experience all the better. Nathan, our guide, had an eye for everyone and made sure with his humor that we were aware of possible dangers, while at the same time offering us a unique and unforgettable experience. He gave interesting explanations about the nature and made sure everyone had a good time. Don't speak French? No worries! I was the only non-French speaker in the group, but Nathan always took the time to translate everything into English for me. Although I have done canyoning before, this was definitely one of the better experiences. The Gorges du Verdon is a beautiful location and in combination with a great guide like Nathan, it really becomes an unforgettable experience.
